“I need an entire graphic identity,
how does it work?”

1. BRIEF
First, we ask for specifications regarding the visual communication, an explanation of your project and anything you think might be relevant (inspiration, sketches, photos, etc.)

We then define your most important needs together (a poster, a logo, a website, ...). We get back to you with an estimated schedule and a quote. If you agree with it, we sign a contract and start working together 😎️.

2. DIRECTIONS
We identify the key part of the communication before starting the research phase. This is when we are the most in contact, asking you what you like, but most importantly, what you don’t like.

We then present you 2–3 proposal and you have to choose one. The form might change but the chosen direction will become the thread of the overall graphic identity.

3. PRODUCTION
Once you have chosen a direction, we enter the production phase. We finalise, step by step, the main proposal (i.e poster, logo, etc.) and start working on all other required assets, strictly sticking to the schedule. We may realize that other designs are needed. In that case we adjust the quote and timeline together.

4. FINALISATION
In this phase we prepare what is necessary for the “ready for press” files. We are usually in direct contact with the printing company unless you take care of that part yourself. For online assets, we export to the different formats needed. For a website, this is when we will show you how to log in, manage it, and modify some pages.

“I am a researcher and I want to visualise my work, but I don’t know
where to start...”

1. BRIEF & DIRECTIONS
First, we will ask you about your work, your needs and your budget. We will help you define the best output for your research (book, website, illustration, video, etc.). We then give you a draft, an estimated timeline and a quote. If you agree with it, we sign a contract and plan our next meetings.

We then show you what’s already being done in your field. We conduct a thorough analysis and we start planning directions (formats, digital or print, papers, printing techniques, etc.).

2. CONTENT
Once we have an overview of the first directions, we start gathering content. If your research is still in the making, we will start working with what you have and adapt to the time frame of your project. We can also help with reviewing your text, editing it or simply giving you feedback.

At that point, we will send you templates and online drives to share and organise your content. If your text is written, edited, and completely finished, we just receive your file and start the production directly.

3. PRODUCTION
When we have established a medium, a format and have your content, we start the production. If your work is going to become a book, this is when we try different fonts, and layouts. We usually give you a couple of options so you can choose what you like most. If your work is going to become a website, we establish the domain name, and show you different templates.

Depending on the scope of the project, once you have approved a direction, we work on it and send you visuals to review, correct, and approve.

4.  FINALISATION
Once the production is done, we send you the last version for a final verification. This is not a stage where we will make extensive changes, it is rather a time for proofreading and validation before the preparation of the definitive file.

For a printed project, we prepare the “ready for press” documents for the printing company. We are usually in direct contact with them unless you take care of that part yourself. For online assets, we export to the different formats needed. For a website, we will show you how to log in and manage it.

“I need design for an editorial project, what would the process be?”

1. BRIEF & DIRECTIONS
When you contact us, we ask for a brief, an explanation of your project and anything you think might be relevant. We define specific needs and wishes with you. We then give you a draft of what could be done, an estimated schedule and budget.

Once you have approved our proposal, we send you moodboards and start defining some directions. We can also help with text editing or simply give you feedback.

2. RESEARCH
We will start researching formats, fonts, papers, printing techniques or online platforms according to your needs and budget. We then decide on a direction together.

You may need design exclusively for part of the publication. In case some design choices are already taken by you or a publisher (format, fonts, papers, etc.), we will only work on what is needed, following the directions already taken.

3. PRODUCTION

Once you have chosen a direction, we enter the production phase. We receive the final content from you, we lay out the text and the images, then we show you mockups to validate a design system.

Afterwards, we send you the flatplan to define more specifically the content for each page, and the final number of pages. When the overall is approved, we start typesetting (word spacing, hyphenation, etc.). It is one of the most important part, and can takes a couple of weeks.

4. FINALISATION

At this stage, we send you a PDF for final proofreading. This is not a time for extensive content changes, rather to make sure there aren’t any mistakes. In parallel, we work on the book cover.

We prepare what is needed for the “ready for press” files. We are usually in direct contact with the printing company unless you want to take care of that part yourself, or if it is an online publication.

“I have a very specific need, budget and deadline, what can you do?”

We work for very specific projects under sometimes tight deadlines. Our process is similar with four main steps (brief, directions, production and finalisation). We adapt the number of propositions and the schedule according to your needs. An example is the project ︎︎︎commun·e which needed a logo and a digital identity adapted for social media, a website, soundcloud and YouTube.
The art gallery ︎︎︎One Gee In Fog, needed a one-time poster for the opening of a new exhibition. Finally, the duo ︎︎︎Elsa and Johanna needed type setting and layout for their texts only, while the rest of the publication was designed by their publishers.
