Le Fesses-tival (“the f-ass-tival”) offers, defends and promotes a positive, inclusive and non-binary vision of sexualities. In 2023, the festival's theme centered around fire.

Graphic identity

This year, the theme of the Le Fesses-tival was fire. We started the graphic identity by creating colourful, fiery backgrounds experimenting with collages of fire images.

The poster is always the start of the graphic identity. The text is interacting with the background, where 'Le Fesses-tival' is literally ablaze, engaging with the flames. The logo of the Fesses-tival is encapsulated within a flame. The information, framed by smaller flames, appears to be ignited by the fire, creating a dynamic diagonal flow that converges at the bottom right.
We used the font Pic Nic font from Mariel Nils – available on Velvetyne foundry – for its fluid shapes and outlines.

To distinguish specific events such as the exhibition, films, and parties, we created dedicated posters directly derived from the festival's overall identity. We used the same background as the main poster and maintained a similar textual composition. We played with colors to differentiate each event.
For the exhibition “Embrace”, curated by Danniel Tostes and Lari Medawar held at Ford from September 6 to 27, we used a pink tone, inspired by specific installations within the exhibition.

The Fesses-tival organised two parties. The friday show kicked off with Katty Guetto, followed by a concert R&B of NAYANA and DJ sets from La Ninã Jacarandá, GЯEG, Thérèse Ha amd La Rage accompanied by performances of Jamal Phoenix et Spaecemoon.
The Saturday show was a take over by GENEVAGAS, featuring shows by KALI, Sex Siren, FENIXXX, FeuKing, DJ-X-ETTE, JOAHOE, Hirma (ZAGAZA collective) and LA ZIZANYX.
The nights events used a darker color palette for the communication. During the shows, animated flames were projected behind the performing artists.

The festival featured 5 different cycles of movies at Le Spoutnik cinema. Films like Mirage, Klappe, Marathon and Dirty Boots were shown. We used a blue palette for the events related to films.

We extended the festival's communication across various goodies by keeping the iconic butt logo and incorporating flames as a distinctive design element. We created embroidered caps, stickers and continued the tradition from previous years, maintaining a silk-screen stand where visitors can either bring their own garments or purchase form the festival directly.

The social media communication used the four backgrounds from the graphic identity, distinguishing the events (days, nights, exhibitions and films). We created animated backgrounds, playing with the typography and flames illustrations.

Each year we update the website with the theme colors and fonts. This year, we animated the background with moving flames, interacting with users when they moved their mouse across the screen.
