Elsa Parra and Johanna Benaïnous are two artists and photographers who have been working together since 2014. They carry out personal, editorial and commercial projects. Beyond the shadows is a self-portrait series made between 2018 and 2019 in Calagary (CA). The duo embodies fictional characters, anonymous people with ordinary lives. They change their appearance and create set up in different location to recreate a particular atmosphere around them. This series of 84 photographs is entirely reproduced in the book and accompanied by five texts.
We worked on the typography, layout and text grid for the preface, essays and appendix. The book is made up of two papers, white and eggshell for short novels.

The publication includes texts and essays from Gaël Charbau, Salomé Burstein, Baptiste Gourden, Eugénie Adda, Arthur Larrue. The english version was translated by Morgan Kitt. Made in Verona, Italy, the textile cover, binding and photoengraving was produced by Verona Libri.
